On 14 December 2016, World Malayalee Council Trivandrum Metro stood firmly with the people of Kerala in support of the Mullaperiyar Protest Committee. The solidarity meeting, inaugurated by senior Congress leader Shri K. Muraleedharan MLA, sent a strong and united message: the safety and rights of five Kerala districts will never be compromised.
Hundreds of WMC members and concerned citizens gathered to reaffirm Kerala’s legitimate concerns over the aging Mullaperiyar dam and the need for a new, safe structure. Speakers highlighted the risks faced by lakhs of families living downstream and stressed that this is not just an Idukki issue — it is a matter of life for the entire state.
WMC pledged continued support until justice and safety are assured. One voice, one Kerala — we stand together for our land and our people.
